The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.
It might not have been at the same level as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.
“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”
This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
“It captures the character of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”
Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
