Star Refutes Anti-Vax Stance Following Voicing Disputed Coronavirus Film
Liam Neeson has provided his vocal talents to a recent film that questions the safety of vaccines and praises one-time health official the political figure.
The Documentary's Provocative Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication co-authored by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for assertions that the virus was a result of a bad strain of the influenza shot.
The book's collaborator, the executive producer, has penned books with far-right figure Alex Jones. The producer recently posted hailing Neeson's participation in the project.
A Firm Denial
Representatives for Liam Neeson have issued a statement firmly refuting suggestions that he supports anti-immunization beliefs.
"Everyone can recognize that unethical practices may occur within the medical sector, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the response explains. "He never has been, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His long work with the UN children's agency reinforces his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."
The response added that the star was not involved in crafting the film's editorial content and that concerns about its content are best addressed to the filmmakers.
Major Claims Within the Feature
In the film, the voiceover spoken by Neeson makes several strong statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have called for "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It declares that "science has become deeply influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not adequately tested."
- It also criticizes pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of pandemic shots, it mentions a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Background and Recent Issues
The film further cites a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the subject of a formal apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
Last month, RFK Jr instructed the CDC to change its longstanding position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is repeated in the film, even with a recent study from the WHO confirming no such link has been found.
A Previous Statement of Support
Contrasting the film's narrative, Neeson has formerly expressed firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible triumph," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
The film concludes with Neeson's script stating, "This isn't the end of our journey. This is the start of a different phase."
