Six Individuals Detained After 12 Million Euro Robbery on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators using military-grade weapons used explosive devices to break into a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, resulting in minor injuries to five workers during described as the most recent prominent daytime heist to hit the country.

The audacious robbery took place on the afternoon of Thursday, with police forces quickly arresting the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items estimated to be worth €12M (10.5 million pounds), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of Laboratoires Pourquery sustained minor injuries due to the explosion, and three individuals required hospital checks for assessment, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight employees were at the location when the thieves struck.

The individuals, thought to be seasoned offenders, were taken into custody shortly after the incident in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A woman involved who took part in the raid was taken into custody as well, officers confirmed.

“Six individuals who used detonations in an assault targeting a gold refining facility in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official announced via X, praising officers for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Assault rifles, handguns and explosives were likewise seized.

The robbery occurred as French police on that Thursday detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in connection with the bold Louvre museum robbery.

Numerous detectives have been searching for four robbers who employed a truck equipped with a moving lift and cutting equipment to access a gallery on the first floor at the renowned museum on the nineteenth of October, making off with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently forced their way into the Parisian museum of natural history, taking gold specimens estimated at exceeding $1M. A woman from China, aged 24 was taken into custody recently in Barcelona, Spain in relation to the burglary, prosecutors stated.

The sequence of heists has raised concerns in the country regarding inadequate security measures at museums and other institutions housing valuable items.
