Mohamed Salah Offers Statement to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Salah apologised to the team after the controversy from his televised remarks.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the team's response stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I get that there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Their results have remained strong in the games following the initial controversy. He feels the outburst were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, performing and securing victories.”
