Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
