Grief as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no one has been arrested have been made, according to authorities.
Details of the Attack
Authorities indicated that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a premises close to the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site supervising the installation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, it was reported.
"The report indicates the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and wearing what appeared to be a security uniform shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.
Important clues, like cartridges, were found at the crime scene.

Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to establish their destination," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the loved ones are reeling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she said.
"We know he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were prepared to tackle. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the community to refrain from sharing explicit content from the incident, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, especially for Stock's children.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that was broadcast on a South African TV network.
In addition to his work in broadcasting, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including security provision, providing high-level security services and protecting high-profile events across South Africa.

A government minister remarked he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's killing.
"He spoke his truth fearlessly and impartially. He even criticized me and my actions as a minister. He was a pure example of who we must aspire to be," the minister added.
A public representative said the "brazen murder of DJ Warras in broad daylight is a trauma for all South Africans".
A industry leader expressed that "Stock was not merely a TV personality. He was a talented storyteller, a passionate music lover and a warm soul who brought excitement and dynamism to every performance. His dedication to creativity left an lasting impression."
In a communication, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his magnetism, approachability and sharp wit, adding that his memory "will be remembered".
