Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
