In a significant move for their overhauling roster, the South Side team have welcomed infielder Munetaka Murakami, completing a two-year contract with the accomplished player.

Contract Details and Added Benefits

The agreement features a substantial signing bonus, payable within 30 days, alongside annual pay of $16 million for the next season and $17M for the following year.

Notably, Murakami's compensation can increase based on accolade achievements in 2026:

• A seven-figure bonus for being named the Most Valuable Player award.
• $500K for placing as runner-up or in third place in MVP voting.
• $250,000 for placing fourth through 10th.
• $250,000 for earning the ROY honor.

The contract includes that he cannot be assigned to the farm system without his approval and makes him a free agent at the termination of the deal. Extra provisions include a team-provided interpreter and travel costs between his home country and the States.
