US entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows like "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to media reports.
"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a announcement.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Beyond his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.
The actor is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
